Cosmology Derveni Interpretation Papyrus Theology
The Derveni Papyrus: Cosmology, Theology and Interpretation Gá bor Betegh presents the first systematic reconstruction and examination of the Derveni papyrus and analyzes its role in the intellectual milieu of its age. Found in 1962 near Thessaloniki among the remains of a funeral pyre, it is one of the earliest surviving Greek papyri and is a document of primary importance for understanding religious and philosophical developments of the time of Socrates. The book will appeal strongly to classicists, philosophers and historians of religion.
Religious interpretation - Religious interpretation and similarly religious self-interpretation define a section of religion-related studies (theology, comparative religion, reason) where attention is given to aspects of perception—where religious symbolism and the self-image of all those who hold religious views have important bearing on how others perceive their particular belief system and its adherents. Consistent histories - In quantum mechanics, the consistent histories approach is intended to give a modern interpretation of quantum mechanics, generalising the conventional Copenhagen interpretation and providing a natural interpretation of quantum cosmology. Some believe that this derives from the work by Hugh Everett and is a modern version of the many-worlds interpretation. Rigorism - Rigorism is a system of philosophy or theology that insists on a strict, or the strictest possible, interpretation of belief or doctrine. In Roman Catholic theology, the term is often applied to those who argue for the strictest interpretation of Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus. Papyrology - Papyrology is the study of ancient literature as preserved in manuscripts written on papyrus, the most common form of paper in the Egyptian, Greek and Roman worlds. Papyrology entails both the translation and interpretation of ancient documents in a variety of languages, as well as the care and preservation of the papyrus originals.
